How 1 Doctor Helped Save Nigeria From Ebola

Courageous woman who probably saved hundreds, if not thousands. The other critical piece in Nigeria fighting a winning battle is that the government closed the borders to people from other Ebola affected nations.

CDC Announces Additional "Protocols" For Travelers Coming to US from Sierra Leone, Liberia, and Guinea

First of all, all travelers originating from those countries (whether by direct or indirect flight) will have to terminate at one of five specified airports, which I guess will supposedly be given additional training so they can perform better screenings.
But the only screening specified is... taking the passenger's temperature. Something we already know doesn't work.
This is obviously a political move designed to pretend that we're blocking ebola cases from entering the US. But the maneuver itself is calculated to not block potential ebola cases.

US Army lab plays key role in helping to fight the spread of Ebola
Researchers Dr. Christopher Doona and Florence Feeherry of the U.S. Army Natick Soldier Research, Development, and Engineering Center developed next generation decontamination technologies that safely, conveniently, and controllably generate chlorine dioxide (ClO2) without acids or power. ClO2 kills bacterial spores, viruses, and vegetative cells, while minimizing hazards to the user and the environment.

SunNews: UCH raises alarm over Lassa fever in Ibadan October 20, 2014
(NIGERIA)
"...management was particularly worried about the development because the ailment belonged to the same family of hemorrhagic fever like the dreaded Ebola disease virus (EVD), which had raised global concern in recent times due to the level of fatality it had caused, especially in some parts of West Africa.
“Within the last two months, we have had about 80 samples suspected of hemorrhagic fever. Out of the 80, we are having close to 27 being positive. That is about 35 to 40 per cent. That is very high,” he said, while calling for urgent action to stem the tide."

Lassa fever, a serious viral disease spread by contact with infected rodents, is estimated to infect hundreds of thousands of people per year across the countries of Sierra Leone, Guinea, Liberia and Nigeria in West Africa, with approximately five thousand deaths annually. In some areas of Sierra Leone, up to 16 percent of people admitted to hospitals have Lassa fever. Lassa fever is also associated with occasional epidemics, during which the case-fatality rate can reach 50 percent.

Justin Clay St. Germaine, 33, of Lawrenceville, was arrested Oct. 9 (after returning from work in Gabon, a west African country)
and charged with child molestation in Woodstock. Germaine is charged in Woodstock on two counts of aggravated child molestation, and one count each of child molestation and rape, and is being held at the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center with no bond, Baker said.

“The suspect had been on an oil rig off the coast of Gabon, which is not on the watch list,” Baker explained Tuesday. “He was screened prior to entering the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center and showed no symptoms.”
